Are you suffering from pain that just won’t settle down, despite having physiotherapy or osteopathy treatment?

Do you feel like you are stuck with pain and symptoms that you just can’t shift?

Have you wondered if an injection would be useful but don’t know where to start or who to trust?

Are you on a long NHS waiting list for an injection but need treatment now?

Are you worried that a private ultrasound guided injection is too expensive or worried about extra hidden costs?

If you can relate to the above questions, then we have the perfect solution for you. Complete Injections are proud to announce a brand new ultrasound guided injection service, in conjunction with Abbeyfields clinic, in the heart of Bury St Edmonds, Suffolk.

Complete injections provide a cutting-edge ultrasound guided injection service at an affordable price. Our service is highly respected by patients, doctors, orthopaedic consultants and sports physicians.

Our team of clinicians are expert physiotherapists and musculoskeletal sonographers with extensive experience in assessing and treating a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions.

Accessing the right treatment for your condition starts with an accurate diagnosis. An assessment at Complete combines a series of clinical tests as well as an in-depth diagnostic ultrasound scan. Your diagnosis will be explained to you and if required an injection can be carried out all within a single appointment. You will also be sent a post injection clinical letter as well as a set of post injection exercises.

Luke Millward will be leading our new Bury St Edmonds service. He has over 15 years of clinical experience in treating musculoskeletal conditions and also works in the City of London, Chelsea, and Cambridge. Luke is not only a highly experienced physiotherapist but is also a musculoskeletal sonographer running a busy diagnostic ultrasound imaging service for Barts Health NHS Trust. Furthermore, he is an injection therapist and an independent prescriber which allows him to prescribe the right medication for you without the need for a GP referral.

Luke says:

‘I am excited to be starting this new injection service in Suffolk. I have strong roots in the local area and am acutely aware that, unless you go to a local private hospital and pay large amounts of money, there are no local options available, either in Bury St Edmonds or in East Anglia as a whole! I know there is a huge local demand for a fast and affordable pain service and believe I can provide a convenient, safe, and effective service to the community’

‘Helping people to get the right diagnosis and enabling them to access the right treatment is very rewarding and is what gets me out of bed in the morning!’

Frequently asked question, answered by Luke:

How do I know if I need an injection?

‘An injection should be considered if you have been experiencing a significant amount of pain that is resistant to conservative treatment options such as physiotherapy. An injection should also be considered if you are unable to get a good night’s sleep or if symptoms are stopping you from working, completing activities of daily living or undertaking hobbies/sport’.

What is an ultrasound guided injection and why should I choose to have one?

‘An ultrasound guided injection uses ultrasound imaging to accurately locate the site of the pathology and visualise the advancement of the needle in ‘real time’. This ensures the correct area is targeted and that the medication is delivered right to the heart of the problem. This accuracy not only results in a higher success rate but ensures any delicate structures nearby (like nerve and blood vessels) are avoided, making it a very safe and effective treatment’.

What injection choices are available?

‘There are three different types of injection offered at Complete, all of which are designed to do different things. A steroid injection targets inflammation and is capable of providing very fast pain relief; a hyaluronic acid injection protects an osteoarthritic joint by providing lubrication and shock absorption; and a platelet-rich plasma injection (PRP) provides joint and tendon injuries with a concentrated dose of regenerative biochemical markers designed to kick-start the healing process’.

‘It can be very confusing choosing the right injection for your condition. After you have been given your diagnosis a discussion about treatment options can be had, resulting in the most effective treatment being selected’.

Will an injection cure me?

‘An injection should not be used as a ‘stand-alone’ treatment. It is vitally important that an injection is followed up with a period of physiotherapy. Rehabilitating the underlying cause of your pain will help to stop it coming back in the future’.

‘Complete Injections provides a multidisciplinary service with the Abbeyfields clinic so that all your rehabilitation needs can be taken care of under one roof’.

What type of injuries respond well to ultrasound guided injections?

‘Ultrasound guided injections can be very effective for treating injuries affecting the shoulder, elbow, wrist, hand, hip, knee, foot, and ankle.  Common targets for injections are joints, bursae (friction reducing fluid-filled sacs), as well as around tendons and nerves’. For a full list of common injuries that respond well to injections, follow this link.

‘We are unable to inject spinal conditions at Complete.  If you have a spinal condition an injection can be of benefit, but this would need to be done by an orthopaedic consultant in theatre’.
